A Christmas Carol adapted by Christopher Schario from the novel by Charles Dickens, produced by the Paradox Players and directed by Barbara Abbate will be offered this holiday season in the Sanctuary of the First Unitarian Universalist Church. A Christmas Carol will run from November 23, 24, 30 at 8pm, & November 25 at 3pm; December 1, 7, 8 at 8pm and December 2 & 9 at 3pm. The play will be produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc
Auditions will be held on Saturday, October 13 from 10-1, and Sunday, October 14 from 1-3.
A Christmas Carol is a wonderful holiday treat for an audience as well as a performer. This novella was written is 1843 when Charles Dickens was only thirty-one years old. The scene is set in London at Christmas in 1843. The cast includes 8 actors, 7 of whom will play a variety of roles. The play is narrated primarily by two young actors, a boy of 11 or 12 and a girl of 14 or 15. These roles can be double cast.
For those younger members interested in appearing in A Christmas Carol, a preliminary acting/theatre workshop will be offered on Saturday October 6 from 10-Noon. Auditions for the children’s parts will take place at that time.
